Annin & Company, the world's oldest and largest flag manufacturer, has its main manufacturing plant located on Bloomfield Avenue in Verona. Annin & Company is the official flag manufacturer to the United Nations, and is a major supplier to the United States Government. Flag production originally included hand-embroidered and hand-sewn flags for countries around the world.
Annin produced flags that were used on Iwo Jima, planted on the surface of the Moon by local hero Buzz Aldrin, at the North and South Poles, atop Mount Everest and the rubble of the World Trade Center in 2001. The Verona flag factory was in continuous operation from its opening in 1919 until 2013.
