What Exit you from? If you're from New Jersey you have probably referred to a location by the nearest NJ Turnpike Exit number at least once. After all, the landscape changes quite a bit depending on where you fall on this famed roadway running the length of the Garden State.

Well, I like it here at Exit 4, otherwise known as Mt. Laurel, and have called it home for the past 22 years. I've raised two daughters here, lived in three or four homes here, and established my Real Estate practice here. The schools here are top notch, boasting 6 elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school, Lenape High School. With it's outstanding athletic, academic and club programs, the education here in Mt. Laurel places it on many a families short list as best places to live in South Jersey. Located on the western side of Burlington County, just minutes from Philadelphia, and trains to New York, for me and my family it has been an ideal place to live work and play.

The township spans 22 square miles and is home to about 41,000 residents. Originally occupied by the Leni Lenape Indians, until 1682 when William Evans emigrated from Wales and settled on the Rancocas Creek. Evans is responsible for the earliest deed recorded in Mount Laurel, which is, in fact the "mount" at the intersection of Hainesport Mt-Laurel Road (part of "The Great Road") and Moorestown Mt. Laurel Road.

Today the township boasts a beautiful park, Laurel Acres, that is home to a playground, running path, huge pond, baseball and soccer fields, covered picnic tables, walking paths and a dog park area. Another park is planned at the corner of Elbo Lane and Hainesport Mt. Laurel Road. We also enjoy outstanding schools, plenty of youth sports teams and access to great shopping and dining. We are fortunate to have a variety of places to call home, from rental apartments, condos, retirement communities, town homes to single family and large custom homes, there is something for everyone and every budget. I find that once someone moves to Mt. Laurel, they stay here, weather they are ready to move up or down size.

Centrally located in the state, many families settle here because of the proximity to some major employers like Lockheed-Martin, PHH Mortgage, NFL Films, Computer Sciences, TD Bank Corporate, and many more. But many also find Mt. Laurel and ideal location for commuting to Philadelphia and New York for work and pleasure.

Shopping is in abundance, Moorestown and Cherry Hill Malls are within minutes from almost anywhere in Mt. Laurel. Plenty of grocery stores, and some great dining can be found within the zip code and more within a short drive outside of town. World class dining does not require a trip to Philadelphia, Osteria, a Marc Vetri restaurant, recently opened at the Moorestown Mall, and check out Haddon Avenue ,through Haddonfield and Collingswood, a 10 minute drive, there are top rated BYOB restaurants with fare to please any palate, that are very highly rated. Entertainment, arts and culture are in abundance with a quick drive or PATCO train ride into Philadelphia, or equally easy (but a little longer) trip to New York City via New Jersey Transit trains, or one of the big buses that run from Cherry Hill Mall directly to Midtown Manhattan.

Of course we can't forget the easy trip to the famed Jersey Shore. With some beaches less than an hour away, day trips to sun & sand are easily accomplished by major highways as well as many back roads. There are gems of towns along the east coast of New Jersey and still a few free beaches like Strathmere and Wildwood.

All in all, Mount Laurel is a pretty great place to live. There is something here to enjoy for everyone, regardless of what state of life you are in, and easy access to world class dining and culture. Young professional, families and retirees all love to call Mt. Laurel home, and with good reason.
